Thanks to the outstanding adaptability of its products, the manufacturer has become the global market leader in the field of customised glass-glass modules for building integration over the past five years.
The international ICONIC AWARDS:Innovative Architecture, created by the German Design Council, award prizes for particularly innovative projects and products in the field of architecture. Awards from the German Design Council are recognised as an independent seal of quality of internationally renown for contemporary development and design achievements. In the category "Innovative Material", the BIPV modules SUNOVATION eFORM were awarded the label "Best of Best" in 2019. This award is given for particularly outstanding submissions in a category. The jury justified this as follows:
SUNOVATION eFORM BIPV modules are customised electricity-generating architectural glasses for integration into the building envelope. The modules are configured exclusively on a project-specific basis. They are available in all conceivable colors, sizes, glass structures and geometries, allowing them to be perfectly adapted to the respective architectural requirements. It is remarkable that the actual PV technology remains invisible behind the glass if required. A highly interesting material with a high-quality appearance and high efficiency that offers architects and planners completely new possibilities in the integration of photovoltaics."
In addition to other awards, nominations were made in the special categories “Architects of the year”, “Interior Designers of the Year” and “Architects’ Client of the Year”. Namely, the British architect Sir David Chipperfield was named Architect of the Year for his outstanding projects, the New York design and art cooperative Snarkitecture was named Interior Designer of the Year for its extraordinary installations, art objects and shop interiors, and the city of Freiburg im Breisgau was honoured for its unprecedented transformation into a Green City.
Moderators Julia Bauer and Andrej Kupetz, managing director of the Council, charmingly guided through the award ceremony, which took place in the architecturally famous Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich. Built by Stephan Baunfels, it is one of the largest collection houses for modern and contemporary art, architecture, and design in Europe.
